LDS Tour Detailed Itinerary
Day 3 - Bangkok City and temple tour.
Morning at leisure. After lunch we will begin a sightseeing tour of Bangkok. We will Drive through China Town, the Indian Market, and the Wholesale Flower Market. Visit Wat Po (Temple of the Reclining Buddha). See the biggest Reclining Buddha statue, 150 feet long and 40 feet high. Then you will visit Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn) which we will reach by boat. Then we will visit a tailor shop that specializes in custom made dresses and suits. You can order a custom wardrobe at an incredibly low price. Your wardrobe will be waiting for you at our hotel upon our return to Bangkok. Overnight: Bangkok - (B) Optional: Siam Niramit Show and Dinner |
Day 4 - Grand Palace, Jim Thompson house &
Vimanmek house Morning tour of Wat Phra Kaew, the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, and the adjoining Grand Palace. This complex consists of over 100 brightly colored buildings, golden spires and glittering mosaics, that date back to 1782. After lunch on your own, visit the Vimanmek Palace and Jim Thompson's House. Vimanmek is the largest teak mansion in the world. It is four stories high, and was constructed during the reign of King Rama V. Next, visit Jim Thompson's house. Jim Thompson is famous for making Thai Silk known throughout the world. Day 5 - Floating Market, Samphran Elpehant Grounds &
Crocodile Farm - on to Ayutthaya. Today you will travel outside of Bangkok. First you will visit the Floating Market at Damnoen Saduak where you will witness boat-to-boat bartering unlike any you've ever seen. Here, hundreds of agricultural vendors float side-by-side, buying, selling, or exchanging a variety of goods. Then we will visit Samphran Elephant Ground and Zoo. We will enjoy lunch along with a magic show, an elephant show and crocodile wrestling. Following your visit here, you will continue on to Ayuttaya (the ancient capitol of Thailand) for an overnight stay. Overnight: Ayutthaya – (B,L) |
Day 6 - Ayutthaya - Bang Pa In - Flight to Chaing Mai
This morning you will visit the Chai Wattanaram Temple in Ayutthaya. This temple was built by King Prasat Tong, a commoner who overthrew the previous king and took his throne. We will visit Bang Pa In Royal Palace. The royal summer palace for Thai kings. Originally constructed in 1632, the complex fell into disrepair. Until the mid-1800's, when King Mongkut restored the site to its former glory. Following your visit, you will return to Bangkok to board your flight to Chiang Mai. Upon arrival, you will be taken to your hotel for check-in. This evening delight in a Kantoke dinner with traditional dances from Northern Thailand. Enjoy acted scenes depicting the local culture as you dine. After dinner, villagers from various hill tribes will perform an exciting array of cultural dances, including the Fon Lep (Fingers Dance), Sword Dance, Fon Thien (Candle Dance), and Ramwong. Day 7 - Chaing Mai - Doi Mae Salong - Chaing Mai
Your morning tour begins with a drive towards Chiang Rai City. We will visit Doi Mae Salong to see several hill tribes. Discover their unique culture that is still maintained today. Then return to Chiang Mai, the cultural heart of Northern Thailand. This city is located in the foothills of the Himalayas and remained isolated from the world until the 1920's. Day 8 - Chiang Mai handicrafts - Mae Sa Elephant Camp
This morning visit Sankampang, the street of handicrafts, and see demonstrations of how silk, lacquer, silver, wood and bronze wares are made. Later today, visit the world's largest gem factory. After lunch we will visit the Mae Sa Valley, with its scenic botanical gardens and ten-tiered waterfalls, to visit the Mae Sa Elephant Training Camp. We will take a ride through the jungle on the back of a Elephant, making for a truly memorable experience. Enjoy time at leisure to walk the exhibition greenhouses, gardens and nature trails. Day 9 - Chiang Mai
This morning enjoy a half day city and temples tour. Visit the most interesting temples in Chiang Mai. Visit Wat Suan Dok, where the remains of the Chiang Mai Royal family are enshrined. The tour continues with a visit to Thailand's most sacred temple Wat Phrathad Doi Suthep. It was erected 3500 feet above sea level in 1384 A.D. Its interior cloister, contains a holy relic of Lord Buddha and a copper-plated chedi topped by a tiered-gold parasol. Equally impressive is the mythological Naga (Dragon-headed serpent) staircase, consisting of 290 steps leading up to the temple grounds. We will also have the opportunity to visit a local jade factory. Then you will transfer to the airport for your flight to Phuket, connecting through Bangkok. Upon arrival in Phuket, you will transfer to your hotel. Overnight: Phuket - (B). |
